Farid Al-Alibi: “What is happening in Syria now is part of old plan to divide the country” [Video]

Speaking with Tunisie Numérique, thinker and political analyst Farid Al-Alibi shed light on the developments in Syria and the potential recurrence of the 2011 scenario. Al-Alibi clarified that current events are likely related to an old project aimed at redistributing influence among three main factions: the Syrian regime, extremist groups, and Kurdish groups.

He elaborated that this long-standing project aims to divide Syria into regions: an Alawite region, a Sunni region, a Kurdish region, and potentially a Druze region in southern Syria. Al-Alibi stressed that this partition aligns with plans designed by Zionist forces under American sponsorship since the 1980s. He cited Ariel Sharon’s project during the 1982 Lebanon War following the invasion of Beirut, remarking that these plans were documented and recorded.

Concerning potential future developments, Al-Alibi noted that the Syrian state continues to resist and strives to salvage what it can, despite the challenging circumstances. These include the ongoing wars in Gaza and southern Lebanon, as well as Turkish and Zionist ambitions, leaving Syria metaphorically caught between two pincers.

Al-Alibi also underscored the presence of powerful allies supporting Syria, such as Russia, Iran, and Iraq. He pointed to a possible resurgence of Arab solidarity from official Arab regimes, including those in the Gulf, to support Syria. This, he explained, is because the aforementioned plan is not limited to Syria—it could also affect Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, and even the Maghreb, including Algeria. The implications might extend as far as Tunisia, underscoring the urgency to halt this aggression at its source.
