MP Nizar Seddik, a member of Parliament’s Bureau, said in a statement to Tunisie Numérique on Friday, 12 December 2025, that no reply from President Kaïs Saïed had been received by the Bureau so far regarding the 2026 Finance Law bill.
A constitutional 48-hour deadline after the vote
According to Nizar Seddik, the Head of State has a constitutionally set 48-hour period, starting from the date Parliament adopts the bill, to respond. The Finance Law bill was adopted on Wednesday, 10 December 2025.
The MP added that the President may either promulgate the text (by signing it) or refuse and return it to the Assembly of the Representatives of the People for a second reading.
Toward publication in the official gazette
Nizar Seddik also suggested that President Kaïs Saïed is likely to promulgate the 2026 Finance Law, which would pave the way for its publication in the Official Gazette of the Tunisian Republic (JORT).
