Finland-Sanna Marin to become the world’s youngest prime minister at 34

Finland’s Sanna Marin has been elected to become the next leader of the Social Democratic party, paving the way for her to become the world’s youngest-serving prime minister at 34.

Marin will succeed Antti Rinne, a previous trade unionist who resigned after only six months in office after losing the trust of the Centre Party over his treatment of a postal strike.
Marin, a left-leaning liberal, has been a member of Parliament since 2015. She started her political work in 2012 when she was elected to the local council in the southern city of Tampere. Most recently she was the minister of transportation and communications in Rinne’s government.
“We have a lot of work ahead to rebuild trust,” Marin informed reporters after winning a narrow vote among the party leadership.
