Foreign Minister Noureddine Erray held a phone conversation Acting Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Christian Saunders.
FM Erray communicated on this opportunity “Tunisia’s consideration for the part performed by the UN agency and its staff in developing the circumstances of the Palestinian refugees and relieving their suffering in the face of the despicable occupation.” “A situation that can only be settled through a radical resolution to the refugee issue as an integral part of the just Palestinian cause,” a Foreign Ministry press release indicated.
During the talk, Erray also declared the full support of Tunisia, president, government and people to Palestinian refugees given their immense health and social conditions in this unusual phase that the whole world is living through due to the spread of coronavirus.
The Minister affirmed Tunisia’s readiness to inquire funders at the bilateral and multilateral levels, to boost financial support and help the UNRWA agency fulfil its noble humanitarian mission in the protection of refugees.
For his part, Christian Saunders stretched his gratitude to Tunisia for the support provided to the agency, manifesting faith in Tunisia’s capacity to continue its genuine efforts to raise funds for UNRWA at this difficult stage in which the entire international community is living through as it faces the coronavirus pandemic.
