French football is in mourning this Monday morning.
Rolland Courbis, the iconic voice of RMC radio, has died at the age of 72.
In addition to his 20 years at the station, the Marseille native was also a prominent figure in his playing and coaching career.
A central defender who came up through the ranks at Olympique de Marseille, then played for Ajaccio, Olympiacos, Sochaux, Monaco, and Toulon, notably winning three French league titles (1972, 1978, 1982), he went on to have a 35-year coaching career, which took him to numerous clubs in France as well as abroad (United Arab Emirates, Russia, Niger, Switzerland, Algeria).
