Frenchman Franck Haise is closing in on the Tunisia head coach job after the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) opened serious talks with him, as it searches for a new manager to lead the Carthage Eagles in the next phase following the team’s early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The move comes after the federation decided to dismiss Sami Trabelsi, following a defeat to Mali and elimination in the round of 16, prompting officials to speed up the coaching change.
Tunisian media reports say negotiations with Haise have made significant progress in recent hours. Discussions are currently focused on financial terms and contractual clauses, alongside coordination with the Ministry of Sports to settle the matter officially.
Haise’s name has risen to the top of the shortlist, particularly after his recent departure from OGC Nice, the Ligue 1 club that includes Tunisian full-back Ali Abdi, following a run of poor domestic results.
However, the FTF is not expected to rely on a single option. The shortlist also includes other candidates, notably Nabil Kouki, head coach of Al Masry (Port Said), and Tunisian coach Moïne Chaâbani, currently in charge of RS Berkane in Morocco.
