The French police announced that they had “killed a person who attacked a patrol of its officers with a knife in the Paris region.”
A statement from the French police revealed that a man armed with a knife “charged” at a police patrol in the Paris region on Wednesday morning without saying a word. The officers responded by shooting him dead.
The statement, issued by the police command, added that one of the officers initially used a “Taser,” but it did not affect the knife-wielding attacker. Another officer then “used his firearm,” shooting the attacker in the chest. Despite emergency services’ efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.
The police furthermore noted that the incident occurred in the Seine-Saint-Denis region, north of Paris. According to their statement, the officers had responded to a report of a man sitting at a bus stop, holding a knife in each hand. When the police arrived, the man suddenly lunged at them without uttering a word.
