In a statement published on 5 February 2025, France reiterated its firm opposition to any forced displacement of the Palestinian population of Gaza, emphasising that such action would constitute a serious violation of international law and a major obstacle to the two-state solution.
Paris cautions of the risks of regional destabilization, especially for Egypt and Jordan, and reaffirms that the only lasting solution to the conflict lies in the creation of a viable Palestinian state, under the authority of the Palestinian Authority, without the involvement of Hamas, which should be disarmed.
The statement also underscores France’s categorical refusal of Israeli colonization, which it considers to be contrary to international law, and warns against any unilateral annexation of the West Bank.
