France reports highest COVID-19 cases surge since May 30

The number of daily coronavirus contaminations in France rose by 1,588 on Friday to attain 162,936, according to the French Public Health Agency. The number is three times larger than the previous day’s rise and records the largest daily spike in new infections since May 30.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 deaths in the country increased by 26 to a total of 29,778.

The increase in new infections comes as France proceeds to slowly lift the lockdown.
