According to data from Insee, consumer prices in France are expected to rise by 0.8% year-on-year in December 2025, after +0.9% in November.
Insee said the easing in inflation would be driven by a sharper decline in energy prices, particularly petroleum products.
By contrast, food prices would accelerate, notably due to fresh produce.
Prices for manufactured goods would fall at a slower pace than in the previous month. Over one year, service and tobacco prices would grow at the same rate as in November.
Insee also reported that, month-on-month, consumer prices are expected to edge up by 0.1% in December 2025, after -0.2% in November.
This monthly increase would be explained by a seasonal rebound in service prices—especially transport—and, to a lesser extent, by a slight rise in food prices. Conversely, energy prices would decline, as would those of manufactured goods. Tobacco prices would remain stable.
Over one year, the harmonised consumer price index (HICP) would rise by 0.7% in December 2025, after +0.8% in November. Month-on-month, it would also edge up by 0.1%, following a -0.2% fall the previous month.
