French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that France will supply Lebanon with humanitarian aid worth €100 million. He called for a ceasefire in the country, arguing that “further damage, victims and strikes will neither end terrorism nor ensure everyone’s security.” He also urged Hezbollah to stop “provocations” and attacks beyond the Blue Line between Israel and Lebanon.
Speaking at an international aid conference for Lebanon, Macron criticized Israel’s attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, stating he was “not sure that a civilization can be defended by sowing barbarism.” He also condemned the attacks on United Nations peacekeepers in Lebanon, saying that “nothing justifies” targeting them.
