French Secretary of State for European Affairs Clement Beaune urged on Friday the United Kingdom to adhere to the Brexit agreement, including allowing French fishermen access to its waters. “Stop saying you no longer need us, stop being obsessed by us, stop thinking we will solve your problems,” he stated.
Beaune added France will again consider retaliatory measures if the United Kingdom does not fulfill its obligations. He cited a possible decrease in electricity supplied to the British island of Jersey, which is dependent on energy imports from France.”They failed Brexit. That was their choice and their failure, not ours,” Beaune stressed.
