Retired army lieutenant-colonel Nejib Belhedi has just set his own Guinness Book record: 80 hours of free swimming from the Italian island of Pantelleria to South Hammamet without stop, or 155 kilometres in the Mediterranean Sea.
While his primary target is the youth of his country (who are trying to attain Europe via the Mediterranean), he made this decision to go in this direction and not the other way around, having only one message in his head: “ You should use the energy you waste attempting to get to Europe to build a future here”.
