Fried Al-Atibi: Ceasefire Decision in Gaza Does Not Mean End of War in Gaza Strip and Lebanon [Video]

On Friday, January 17, 2025, political analyst and researcher Fried Al-Alebi remarked on the ceasefire decision in Gaza, stating that this decision represents a provisional truce between Hamas and the Israeli entity and does not signify the permanent end of the war.

He added that the ceasefire has positive aspects, as it temporarily halts the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people, which has lasted for months. It even opens the possibility of rebuilding the Gaza Strip and permitting Palestinians to receive international aid.

Al-Alebi stressed that this decision will have repercussions for the surrounding countries, as it aligns with a similar path that Lebanon has experienced in recent years. While it may put an end to the ongoing wars in the region, the decision remains open to the possibility of continuing the war against Palestinians and even Lebanese people, as seen in the period following the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.

The political analyst further noted that, despite the ceasefire, Palestinians should remain cautious concerning the Israeli manoeuvres, which were voiced by Netanyahu, who accused Hamas of reneging on some of the terms of the agreement. He also pointed out that 70 Palestinians were martyred in the hours following the decision.

Al-Alebi explained that what can be understood from this decision is that it is just a point in the ongoing resistance war being fought by Palestinians to secure their legitimate rights, which have been recognized by other nations and international organizations.

As for the implications of this decision on the Israeli entity, Al-Alebi speculated that Netanyahu will likely face questions such as “What occurred before and during this battle?” He also indicated that Netanyahu might face criticism from the right-wing parties, especially the religious Zionist parties, who believe that this agreement does not fulfill their aspirations.
