A gas explosion in the city of Shiyan in the Chinese Hubei province killed at least 12 people on Sunday, according to state media. The blast happened in a residential district, with many casualties trapped in their homes.
The latest reports indicate at least 150 people have been rescued from the site and taken to hospitals. Some 40 people were seriously injured.
