GAVI chief says COVID-19 is still a threat

The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) cautioned on Monday that COVID-19 is still a threat and that it’s too early to suggest the pandemic is over.

GAVI Chief Executive Seth Berkley answered questions at a press conference in relation to the World Health Organization’s stance on the pandemic and if they should end the emergency phase, saying that “it could conceivably get worse” and that “it seems like a tough time to stop that emergency.”

Berkley added that COVID-19 vaccine demands would remain strong next year with hundreds of millions of doses needed worldwide.
