Global Report: Britain Ranks First in Depression Rates in 2025, Tunisia Fourth Worldwide

A recent report released by World Population Review reveals a concerning rise in depression rates across the world in 2025, making mental health one of the most pressing public health and societal challenges globally.

According to the report, Britain tops the list of countries most affected by depression, recording an estimated 7,040 cases per 100,000 people. Experts attribute these alarming figures to increasing economic pressures, lifestyle changes, and persistent social stressors impacting citizens’ mental well-being.

Meanwhile, Tunisia ranks fourth worldwide with approximately 6,120 cases per 100,000 people, highlighting a significant surge in mental health disorders within the Tunisian population, driven by ongoing economic hardship and social instability.

Specialists stress that these statistics sound the alarm and call for stronger mental health systems, improved access to psychological care, and widespread awareness campaigns aimed at reducing stigma surrounding mental illness— a major barrier preventing individuals from seeking necessary support.

The report further emphasizes the importance of preventive strategies, tailored to the needs of each society, in order to create healthier and more resilient communities, especially for vulnerable groups and youth.
