Hammamet to Host the 10th Mediterranean Conference on Water Desalination in March 2026

The Tunisian Association for Water Desalination and the University of Tunis El Manar will organise the 10th edition of the Mediterranean Conference on Water Desalination and Treatment, to be held in Hammamet from 25 to 27 March 2026.

Held under the theme “The Water–Energy–Food–Ecosystems Nexus,” the scientific conference is expected to serve as a major platform for showcasing the latest advances in water desalination, including efforts to reduce its energy costs.

A range of topics will be discussed during the event, including challenges linked to water scarcity, climate change and digitalisation, as well as new solutions aimed at promoting more efficient water use. The conference also seeks to strengthen cooperation and dialogue on water resources.

This edition will bring together a large number of researchers, university lecturers and experts from Mediterranean countries to explore avenues for cooperation and for enhancing water security.

It is worth noting that the 9th edition of the conference was held in December 2024 in Nabeul, with a focus on major challenges and innovative solutions in desalination through modern technologies, including digitalisation.

The Tunisian Association for Water Desalination is a non-governmental scientific organisation, officially registered in the Official Gazette of the Tunisian Republic (JORT), No. 116 dated 23 June 2005. Its headquarters are based at the Faculty of Sciences of Tunis, part of the University of Tunis El Manar.

The association works to develop and promote the optimal use of water treatment and desalination technologies in Tunisia.
