Health : Creation of a Tunisian–Algerian Commission to Implement Bilateral Cooperation

Minister of Health Mustapha Ferjani met with his Algerian counterpart, Mohamed Seddik Aït Massoudan, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, on the sidelines of his official visit to Algeria. The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in several priority areas, notably the digitalization of the health sector and telemedicine.

The two ministers also agreed to step up cooperation in organ transplantation, health surveillance at border crossings, genomic medicine, the “One Health” approach, as well as the establishment of hospital twinning programs between the two countries.

To ensure follow-up on the outcomes of the visit, it was decided to set up a joint commission tasked with translating these commitments into strategic projects with clearly defined timelines. “When there is political will, health services improve and health security is strengthened in both Tunisia and Algeria,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
