Sfax is set to witness a major boost to its healthcare infrastructure with the creation of a new regional hospital, officially announced by Hatem Cherif, Regional Director of Health.
Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Cherif confirmed that the project was launched on the instruction of Health Minister Mustapha Ferjani.
He described the decision as a strategic milestone, noting that it ranks among the most significant health-sector measures taken recently, particularly following the decision to restructure the original building of Hédi Chaker Hospital, a cornerstone of medical care in the region.
According to Cherif, a coordination meeting was recently held at the initiative of the Governor of Sfax, bringing together key stakeholders to develop a clear action plan and define initial timelines for the project.
The meeting was deemed productive, resulting in an agreement to launch geotechnical studies as soon as possible and begin preparing the technical and administrative documentation, paving the way for the project’s implementation phase.
