Val Kilmer passed away on Tuesday in Los Angeles at the age of 65, with pneumonia being the cause of death, as confirmed by his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer. The actor, who had previously battled throat cancer in 2014, had recovered and was declared cancer-free in the years following.
Kilmer’s career in Hollywood began in the 1980s and he quickly gained recognition with his breakout performance in 1986, starring in Top Gun opposite Tom Cruise. He earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of rock legend Jim Morrison in The Doors (1991) and became widely known for his role as Batman in Batman Forever (1995).
