ICC prosecutor faces probe over misconduct allegations

The International Criminal Court (ICC) announced an external investigation on Monday into allegations of misconduct by its chief prosecutor, Karim Khan, following claims of sexual misconduct, which Khan has denied.

The investigation, led by the Assembly of States Parties (ASP), aims to ensure an “independent, impartial, and fair process,” according to ASP President Paivi Kaukoranta.

Khan said he “welcomed the opportunity to engage” in the probe, stressing his commitment to the ICC’s work. Khan has faced significant attention this year, particularly after seeking arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders in May, along with a previous warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
