Speaking with Tunisie Numérique, Vice President of the Consumer Protection Organization, Thuraya Tabassi reported that there has been an increase in the prices of many consumer goods, even seasonal fruits, which were usually available and affordable.
Tabbasi clarified that during the summer, many crops are available, but this year we have noticed an increase in some of them, such as grapes and figs. She remarked that according to the explanation of agriculturalists and traders, this increase is mainly due to natural factors and high temperatures, and these materials are extremely sensitive in the preservation and transportation process, and this process has become expensive.
Our speaker added that the noticeable increase in prices is also because these crops are not priced, meaning that prices are free according to supply and demand, in addition to the fact that figs have seen a shortage in production in recent years, which made them unaffordable for all people, unlike grapes, which are witnessing an increase in their prices for the first time, even though we are in the production season, but their prices are predicted to drop with the beginning of the fall, The Vice President of the Consumer Protection Organization pointed out the need for the citizen in these situations to make an equation that is in line with his purchasing power and he has complete freedom to accept these materials or not.
