Increase in Private Sector Doctors’ Fees

The National Council of the Medical Association has officially approved an increase in fees for private-sector doctors, effective January 1, 2025. This decision was detailed in a document shared by the Regional Council of the Medical Association in Tunis on its official Facebook page.

According to the revised fee schedule, general medical consultations will now cost between 40 and 55 TND, while specialized medical consultations will vary from 55 to 80 TND. Telemedicine consultations for general practitioners will be priced between 40 and 55 TND, and for specialists, the fees will range from 55 to 80 TND. Consultations for neurology and psychiatry have been revised to fall between 60 and 85 TND.

Dialysis services will now cost between 35 and 50 TND. Maternity services have also seen an increase, with normal deliveries priced between 550 and 850 TND, and multiple births ranging from 650 to 950 TND. The cost of kidney stone fragmentation via extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy has been set between 600 and 800 TND.

Additionally, fees for medical services provided during nighttime hours and on public holidays will now be double the standard rates.

The National Council stressed the importance of adhering to Articles 42 and 43 of the Medical Ethics Code, cautioning that violations could result in disciplinary action. These changes aim to address rising healthcare costs while ensuring the sustainability of private medical services.
