International newspapers covered the horror of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which they stated was the bloodiest in modern history in terms of the number of deaths and the sharp drop in aid reaching the population. The British newspaper The Guardian confirmed that this war witnessed record numbers of casualties, including children, journalists, healthcare workers, and United Nations employees.
The newspaper said that Gaza – in addition – has become home to the most food-deprived people in the world. The severity of the situation is highlighted by the extensive harm inflicted upon non-combatant populations and the critical shortage of essential supplies.
In the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, an article described Israel’s policy of managing humanitarian aid directed to Gaza as “catastrophic,” and said that “the desire for revenge, neglect, and incompetence have all worsened Israel’s responsibility for the crisis.”
It added that supplying aid to Gaza “remained at the bottom of the government’s agenda and was subject to the public mood, the whims of political discourse, developments on the ground in Gaza, and international pressure.”
As for the Wall Street Journal, it talked of the “dangerous repercussions” of the faltering ceasefire negotiations in Gaza and said that residents are suffering from deprivation of access to vital aid, that the death toll is rising and the lives of the “hostages” are on hold.
