The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, has sent a letter to the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, in which he accuses the United States and Israel of carrying out repeated attacks on Iranian facilities.

Mohammad Eslami writes that the United States and Israel continued their “aggressions” by once again targeting the Natanz nuclear site on the afternoon of Sunday, 1 March, in two phases, through two attacks he describes as “contrary to international law”.

According to the international news agency Tasnim, Eslami says the military strikes constitute a violation of the Geneva Conventions and their related protocols, the IAEA Statute, the working framework of the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR), the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement between Iran and the Agency (INFCIRC/214), as well as decisions by the IAEA Board of Governors and the General Conference. He also cites the Agency’s safety standards and other relevant international documents.
