Iran launches 40 missiles toward US and Israeli targets as Middle East war enters fifth day

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, that it had launched around 40 missiles toward American and Israeli targets, as the ongoing war in the Middle East entered its fifth day.

In a statement broadcast on Iranian state television, the IRGC said that the 17th wave of the operation dubbed “True Promise 4” had been carried out by its aerospace forces.

“Several hours ago, the 17th wave of Operation True Promise 4 was executed by the aerospace force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps through the launch of 40 missiles toward American and Zionist targets,” the statement said.

No further details were provided regarding the exact locations of the targets or the extent of the damage caused by the strikes.

The announcement comes amid a rapid escalation of military confrontations in the region, with exchanges of attacks involving Iran, Israel, and US forces, as well as strikes targeting military bases and strategic facilities across the Middle East.

The continuation of these operations has raised growing international concern over the risk of a wider regional conflict and its potential impact on global energy markets and regional stability.
