Iraq cuts internet as major protests turn violent

Internet access has been cut off crossed much of Iraq including Baghdad with functional connectivity dropping below 70%, internet blockage observatory Netblocks declared, amid renewed anti-government demonstrations that turned violent and expanded nationwide.
Social media platforms Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as WhatsApp all seemed to be have been disabled across Iraq except in Kurdistan which has a separate internet infrastructure.
The services were exclusively available by utilising a VPN, which completely disguises the specific location of a device reported Reuters.
