Ireland to be placed in second lockdown in bid to combat COVID-19

Ireland’s Prime Minister Micheal Martin stated on Monday that his country would move into a six-week lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the constraint measure, all non-essential retail will shut down, as well as bars and restaurants that don’t offer takeaway service. Nevertheless, Martin declared that schools and churches will remain open for now.

The prime minister closed by saying the government would improve jobless benefits and payment subsidy contributions.
