Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris announced on Friday a general election for November 29 before dissolving the parliament later today. “The time is now right to ask the Irish people to give a new mandate,” he said at a press conference.
The deadline for an election was in March, at the end of the government’s five-year mandate. Harris called the ballot early as polls said his coalition is likely to win another term. “I ask one thing: value your vote, use your voice. If you give me your trust, I will give you my all,” he said.
