The project aims to strengthen economic integration and regional development by improving accessibility and connectivity. It will also contribute to strengthening social cohesion by facilitating travel, while enhancing road safety and the overall quality of transport infrastructure.
The Islamic Development Bank has also approved a new $938 million development financing package to support high-impact projects in the energy, agriculture, health, transport, water supply and sanitation sectors across six member countries, including Tunisia.
According to the Islamic Development Bank, these financing commitments demonstrate its continued commitment to turning development objectives into tangible results. They will, in particular, help electrify households through clean energy sources, support farmers in developing more productive and resilient livelihoods, protect children against preventable diseases, improve road connectivity, and expand access to drinking water and sanitation services in rural areas.
