Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu has disclosed that his government is preparing to confront “all Iranian threats”, holding Tehran responsible for attacks against Israel from Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iraq.
This declaration marks a turning point in rising regional tensions and opens the way to a possible confrontation between Israel and Iran.
A coordinated attack with Washington
According to the Israeli dissemination channel, Israel’s decision to launch a “powerful and massive” attack on Iran has been taken and is preparing to coordinate with the United States. Confronted with this situation, the Israeli army declared a state of alert on all fronts, preparing to react to any Iranian response. “We have been the target of the biggest attack in history, and no nation can accept this. This is why we will react, “said Netanyahu.
Israeli security officials have indicated that all options remain open for a response, which could consist of direct strikes on Tehran or attacking Iranian interests in the region. At the same time, military sources have emphasised that the goal is to “dissuade” Iran, even if this does not guarantee the stopping of future attacks.
Iran promises a firm response
For his part, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, visiting Damascus, cautioned that “each action corresponds to an appropriate and even stronger reaction” from Iran. He also stressed that the priority is to “put an end to hostilities, particularly in Lebanon and Gaza”.
This rise in tensions follows the missile attack by Iran against Israel last Tuesday, in retaliation for the assassination of the head of the Hamas political office, Ismaël Haniyeh, in Tehran, attributed to Israel. A few days earlier, on September 27, the secretary general of Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, had been killed in an Israeli strike.
Coordination with allies and preparation on all fronts
In Israel, the preparation is underway on all fronts. The commander of the American central management arrived in the country to coordinate military efforts, for a possible offensive against Iran in the coming days.
“We are in a confrontation with Iran,” an Israeli army official in the press told. General Daniel Hagari, the army spokesperson, confirmed that the reprisal strikes would come “when deemed appropriate by Israel”.
