The Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia in Amman said recent amendments have been adopted to Jordan’s law governing residency and the affairs of foreign nationals.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and addressed to all Tunisian citizens visiting the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the embassy said Article 11 of the law requires any foreigner wishing to remain in the Kingdom for more than two weeks to report to the Residency and Borders Directorate, one of its branches, or the local security center in their area, in order to declare their place of residence and personal details.
The embassy added that the fine for violating this provision has been raised to 200 Jordanian dinars, equivalent to $282.48.
Meanwhile, Article 14 has tightened penalties, setting a fine of 200 dinars for anyone who shelters a foreign national or provides them with accommodation or a place to stay—whether free of charge or for payment—without notifying the competent authorities within 48 hours of the person’s arrival or departure.
