On Thursday, December 5, 2024, President Kaïs Saïed led the 72nd commemoration of Farhat Hached’s assassination. Hached, a towering figure in Tunisia’s labor movement and independence struggle, was honoured for his lifelong commitment to workers’ rights and social equity.

During the annual ceremony, Saïed underlined Hached’s vital role as the “father of Tunisia’s labour movement,” reflecting on his tireless fight for independence and the dignity of workers. The President called for deep legislative and social reforms to continue the mission Hached championed.

In his speech, Saïed reiterated the need of a “legislative revolution” to dismantle outdated laws perpetuating corruption and injustice. He advocated for the end of precarious work conditions, ensuring fair labour standards for all Tunisians.
