During his meeting with Prime Minister Kamel Madouri, on October 14, 2024 at the Carthage Palace, President Kaïs Saïed highlighted the need to guarantee the proper functioning of public services and to ensure quality access to services for all citizens. The President underscored the importance of acting firmly against any failure to fulfil these responsibilities, regardless of the status of the official involved.
Kaïs Saïed also recalled that Tunisia is in a race against time to meet the fundamental needs of its citizens. He urged officials to adapt to the demands of the moment by adopting new legislation that breaks with the obsolete laws of the past, which now represent a brake on the nation’s ambitions.
The President also highlighted the weight of the economic legacy and social challenges inherited from prior policies, emphasising the desire to overcome these obstacles through unwavering determination. According to him, current leaders must rise to the occasion by advocating new ideas to modernize the legislative framework.
The meeting also provided a chance to address the issue of economic reforms. Kaïs Saïed highlighted the priorities set out in the 2025 finance bill that was submitted to Parliament. This bill is based mainly on Tunisia’s internal financial capacities, with an emphasis on equity and integration.
The President voiced the need to reorient public policies towards a fair distribution of wealth while focusing on national economic choices.
One of the crucial points raised by President Saïed during this meeting with Kamel Madouri is the restoration of the social role of the State. He insisted that the primary mission of the State is to protect and support citizens, especially the most vulnerable. According to the president, old ideas and concepts must give way to a new vision that is able to meet current needs while paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous future.
