French star Karim Benzema, who recently joined Saudi club Al Hilal, expressed his great happiness at wearing the jersey of the “Leaders of Asia,” following the termination of his contract with Al Ittihad Jeddah amid a crisis that has shaken the Saudi Roshn League in recent days.
Al Hilal had announced the signing of the French striker on a free transfer for a period of one and a half seasons, marking a new chapter in his career on Saudi pitches after two and a half seasons with Al Ittihad Jeddah, where he achieved a league and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup double.
Speaking to the club’s media center, Karim Benzema said:
“I am extremely happy to join this great club. I have completed my first training session with the team, met the players and the coaching staff, and I will do everything I can to make the fans happy.”
He added:
“Al Hilal has a tremendous history and a huge fan base. In my view, this club is the Real Madrid of Asia, given its strength and its ability to win titles and trophies.”
Continuing his remarks, Benzema stated:
“I know Al Hilal well from my time at Real Madrid. We faced them in the Club World Cup final. It was not an easy match, but we managed to come out on top in the end.”
He also underlined:
“Al Hilal has outstanding players and a professional mentality, both on the sporting and administrative levels, which has enabled the club to win trophies and compete with the biggest teams.”
He concluded:
“My message is clear: the fans know my mindset, which is focused on winning titles and achieving success. I will make every effort to dominate all competitions.”
Karim Benzema is expected to make his debut for Al Hilal in the match against Al Okhdood, scheduled for this Thursday, as part of Matchday 21 of the Saudi professional league, the Saudi Roshn League.
