The governorate of Kef experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by a hailstorm on Wednesday evening, causing significant damage to cereal crops, fruit trees, and seasonal plantations, according to Abdelkarim El Hidri, a member of the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fisheries, speaking to a TAP journalist on Thursday.
Hidri stated that the affected areas include the delegations of Sakiet Sidi Youssef, West Kef, East Kef, and Essers. He noted that the damaged cereal fields had reached full maturity, making them especially vulnerable to the large hailstones, which caused widespread destruction.
On Thursday, teams from the Regional Commission for Agricultural Development and the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fisheries visited the affected sites to assess the damage and prepare a report for the relevant authorities.
