Kuwaiti actress Shujoun Al-Hajri has been released on bail after being arrested for possession of banned substances, according to local authorities.
She was apprehended last Thursday by officers from the General Directorate for Drug Control and was found in possession of marijuana, cocaine, and psychotropic substances, based on the investigation conducted by the Criminal Security Department.
The judiciary ordered her release in exchange for bail set at 200 Kuwaiti dinars and mandated that she undergo supervised medical treatment as part of a detoxification program.
Judicial authorities also called for close medical monitoring of her condition pending the completion of legal proceedings.
Shujoun, a prominent figure in Gulf television drama, has not yet issued a public statement. The case has sparked shockwaves in artistic circles, with some praising the authorities for providing medical supervision, while others call for discretion and respect for her privacy.
