Lebanese Minister of Works, Ali Hamiya, said that Israel is targeting civilians and residential buildings in Lebanon amid an unprecedented international silence.
He stressed, “Any Israeli incursion into our land will not be a picnic,” without providing further details.
Hamiya also noted that Lebanese Speaker of the House Nabih Berri is in contact with global leaders concerning the current crisis. At the same time, Prime Minister Naguib Mikati communicates with officials in New York.
Addressing the suspension of certain flights to Lebanon, the Minister confirmed that Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut remains operational.
He further stated that Israel had violated Lebanese airspace over 1,000 times before the Gaza conflict on October 7 and confirmed that the government has an emergency plan in place should the state’s infrastructure, including Beirut Airport, come under attack.
