Lebanon to go under full lockdown from Saturday

Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab announced Tuesday that Lebanon will go under full lockdown between Nov. 14 and Nov. 30 in a bid to contain the dangerous spread of coronavirus.

“If the Lebanese people abide by the measures, and we succeed in containing the virus by registering low numbers, then we will have saved the people,” he said in a statement.

“If the Lebanese people do not comply [with the measures], and if the number of infections continues to remain high, we will be compelled to extend the lockdown for an additional period,” Diab warned.

The decision does not include a closure of the airport, sea port or land borders.
