The club competes in Spain’s second division and, according to the information released, was sitting 19th in the standings at the time of the announcement.
The deal would make the Argentine World Cup winner the owner of two clubs, following his previous involvement with UE Cornellà, which plays in the lower tiers of Spanish football.
With this move, Lionel Messi is broadening his activities in the football world beyond his playing career, strengthening his involvement in club management and ownership.
