The appearance of French President Emmanuel Macron with a visibly reddened right eye during an official speech at the Istres Air Base triggered widespread questions across media outlets and social networks, prompting the Élysée Palace to issue a medical clarification to reassure public opinion.
According to a statement cited by Le Parisien, the French presidency explained that the condition was nothing more than “a small hemorrhage caused by the rupture of a tiny blood vessel in the eye,” a medical phenomenon known as a subconjunctival hemorrhage. The Élysée stressed that this is a common and benign condition that poses no risk to the President’s overall health and usually resolves on its own within a few days.
Upon his arrival at the air base, Macron initially wore sunglasses to conceal the redness before the official ceremony. Later, he addressed the situation with humor, jokingly referring to his appearance as having the “Eye of the Tiger,” a symbolic reference to strength and determination inspired by the famous song from the movie Rocky III.
With this clarification, the Élysée put an end to speculation, confirming that the French president is in good health and that the incident has no impact on his duties or official agenda.
