Maher Medhioub calls on the OHCHR to intervene to suspend the death penalty which threatens 116 deputies

Parliament’s Information and Communication Officer Maher Medhioub yesterday issued a statement addressed to Nada Al Nadhef, United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

According to the post published on his official page,he called on Al Nadhef to interfere to stop the death penalty which threatens 116 deputies. According to the same source, Mehdioub clarified that the decision to dissolve Parliament was taken following the organization of a plenary session on March 30.

“We call on the UN and the OHCHR to seriously support the MPs threatened with the death penalty,” he said, pointing to the deterioration of rights and freedoms in the country.
