Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas (pictured) announced Thursday his intention to travel to the Gaza Strip during a speech at the Turkish parliament.
Abbas voiced his determination to visit the embattled territory, where Israel’s ongoing war has led to thousands of deaths. “I have decided to go to Gaza with other Palestinian leaders […] “I will do that, even if this would cost my life,” he declared, emphasizing that his life was no more valuable than that of a child.
Abbas also reiterated that a Palestinian state could not exist without Gaza and expressed gratitude for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s strong support of the Palestinian cause.
