Malaysian King Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah appointed on Thursday longtime Malaysian statesman Anwar Ibrahim (pictured) as the country’s new prime minister, Royal Comptroller Fadli Shamsuddin announced.
Following the stalemate in Saturday’s elections, where neither party managed to secure a majority in the parliament, the Malaysian king made the final decision. The selection is in agreement with the Malaysian constitution.
