Once again, the national medical team has accomplished an important milestone, with the medical staff at the Habib Bourguiba University Hospital in Sfax successfully performing two surgeries to treat congenital heart defects in children. This is the first achievement of its kind in the region.
This success, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health, comes as part of the fruitful medical cooperation between Tunisia and Germany in the field of cardiovascular surgery. The medical crew in the Heart and Vascular Surgery Department at the hospital, in cooperation with a specialized team from Cologne, Germany, carried out these surgeries using the latest medical equipment recently provided to the department.
The success was not limited to the therapeutic aspect alone; the surgeries also acted as a valuable opportunity for Tunisian doctors to develop their skills through hands-on training in this complex type of surgical intervention. This event emphasises the importance of international partnerships in enhancing the capabilities of the local healthcare system while reinforcing the continued medical cooperation in this vital field.
