During an official visit to Sfax on Thursday, Minister of Communication Technologies Sofiane Hmissi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for innovation and youth entrepreneurship, particularly in the digital sector.
Clear Support The government
In a statement to Tunisie Numérique, the minister emphasized that “The government is fully mobilized to break with all practices that discourage young project holders,” he stated.
Startup Law Reform On The Horizon
Hmissi also announced an upcoming revision of the legislative framework governing startups. The goal is to modernize the law, adapt it to the real needs of Tunisia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, and intensify the search for new financing mechanisms to support these innovative structures.
Sfax Has A Promising Digital Infrastructure
When asked about the state of digital infrastructure in Sfax, the minister acknowledged that the city already benefits from a “fairly good” digital base, but that further development and investment are needed. He reiterated the strategic importance of the region in the national digital strategy.
This ministerial visit is part of a broader set of initiatives aimed at accelerating Tunisia’s digital transformation and providing young people with an environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and economic growth.
