A meeting was held on Friday evening, 9 January 2026, chaired by the Minister of Trade and Export Development, Samir Abid, to review the progress of the 2026 olive oil season.
The meeting brought together representatives of key sector bodies, including the National Olive Oil Office, Customs, the Central Bank, the Exporters’ Chamber, as well as industry professionals.
The minister said the meeting forms part of ongoing monitoring of the various stages of the season—from harvesting and storage to processing and export. He called for speeding up exports and broadening the exporter base, while ensuring optimal promotion of olive oil on both domestic and international markets.
He also stressed the importance of joint action among all stakeholders to ensure a successful season, reaffirming the state’s commitment to removing obstacles and providing the necessary support, particularly for small farmers, processors and exporters.
Participants noted that harvesting, storage, processing and export operations are proceeding normally. Between 1 September and 31 December 2025, nearly 108,000 tonnes of olive oil were exported, including 50,000 tonnes in December alone, in addition to the start in January 2026 of export operations under the quota allocated to the European Union.
On external promotion, 30 promotional activities have been scheduled during the first months of the current year, alongside missions to explore new markets, with the aim of strengthening the international positioning of Tunisian olive oil.
Bulk olive oil exports totalled nearly 94,000 tonnes between 1 September 2025 and 31 December 2025, worth about 1,139 million dinars. Packaged olive oil exports were estimated at 14,000 tonnes, valued at 240 million dinars.
