On Monday, a total of 8,197 candidates sat for the June 2025 session of the national baccalaureate exam in the governorate of Monastir, distributed across 31 examination centers located in various delegations. Among them, 48 students with special needs were granted exceptional accommodations, according to the Regional Delegate for Education, Mesbah Hajlaoui.
In a statement to the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) agency, Mr. Hajlaoui specified that these students were provided with support measures including enlarged text, extended time allowances, or the assistance of a scribe. He also noted the case of a student with xeroderma pigmentosum—commonly referred to as “children of the moon”—enrolled at the Khniss High School, for whom a special air-conditioned room was arranged. Additionally, one candidate will be taking the exam from prison, while another student from the computer science stream will sit for the tests at the Fattouma Bourguiba University Hospital.
The regional education official affirmed that all necessary conditions have been met to ensure the smooth conduct of this national academic milestone. He highlighted the adequate staffing of invigilators, proper classroom setup, and cleanliness, all ensured through coordination with local municipalities and delegations. The distribution of written exam subjects commenced earlier in the day via four logistical routes, and the region is equipped with two exam grading centers.
For his part, Monastir Governor Issa Moussa, who visited the Fattouma Bourguiba exam center, remarked that the exams began under excellent conditions, thanks to the concerted efforts of all stakeholders. He recalled that several preparatory meetings were held at the governorate’s headquarters with relevant parties to ensure a seamless logistical, administrative, and security framework for the exams.
Lastly, Dr. Rim Chatti, Head of the Orthopedic Surgery Department at Fattouma Bourguiba University Hospital, stated that the hospital had begun preparations as early as the previous Saturday to provide optimal conditions for the hospitalized candidate. These included a dedicated room and psychological support to help her navigate the exam period with confidence.
