The municipal pool at the Mustapha Ben Jannet sports complex in Monastir reopened on Monday, 2 February 2026, resuming operations and once again welcoming users—children, young people and athletes—following refurbishment works that began on 28 July 2025.
The project was carried out with a total budget of around 512,301 dinars, in line with recommendations stemming from a field visit by Minister of Youth and Sports Sadok Mourali to the complex in October 2025. The work was coordinated with the various stakeholders as part of efforts to support and modernise the region’s sports infrastructure and to strengthen the practice of sporting activities under the best possible conditions.
At the reopening ceremony, the regional governor, Issa Moussa, accompanied by the regional commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mohamed El Hédi Sakaa, along with several regional and local officials, reviewed the project’s various components. The works notably included:

Rehabilitation of changing rooms and showers;

Upgrading of sanitary facilities.
In addition, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has allocated 500,000 dinars to complete the rehabilitation of the pool’s roof, with works expected to begin during 2026.
The reopening of this flagship sports facility—having undergone no maintenance or refurbishment since 1984—will enable members of the Monastir Swimming Club, frequented by national team athletes and regarded as a key breeding ground for Tunisia’s top swimming champions, to resume training and competitions.
It will also provide children and young people in the region with a suitable sports venue for swimming, contributing to better supervision, follow-up and skills development.
